The Chain Of Custody

Forest and Chain of Custody certification enables consumers to make informed purchase decisions. It assures consumers that the product has been sourced from a forest certified as sustainably managed in accordance with an internationally recognised legal framework that has been independently audited.
The Chain of Custody involves:
- Applicants commit to only using wood from forests certified to the AFCS and are trained to use a documented standard approach to record keeping and operating within the system.
- Independent audit of the system ensures compliance to the documented standard.
There are a number of players that are key to the success of the system.
- FTT Inc as the parent body of the Chain of Custody system has engaged a systems manager.
- TQA Australia, an independent organisation, recognised for their excellence in quality assurance and environmental systems manages the system, providing internal audits and acts as the system coordinator, liaising with licensees.
- The Chain of Custody system is independently audited to the Australian Forestry Standard on an annual basis by an accredited certification body, Global-Mark.
